Interesting attractions en route from Almora to Nainital, Uttarakhand

It was a stunning November early morning at our resort near to Almora, on Binsar Wildlife sanctuary roadway. We wandered around idly on the balcony of our turn to take in the charm of nature. The Himalayan peaks were clearly noticeable and the greenery around was relaxing. After our journey to Kausani, we were on our way back to Delhi with overnight stops at Almora and Pangot. Today, we were set up to drive to Pangot, a little town near to Nainital.

Our drive was not supposed to be long and tiring so we discussed the concept of investing a long time in Nainital before heading for our eventual night location. Nevertheless the minute our motorist stopped the automobile some 20 kms prior to Nainital, we understood our journey had actually already begun.

Shree Kanchi Dham

We were standing in front of temple facility with green hills around. Its scenically stunning location was profoundly attractive. At the main entryway was inscribed the name of the location– Shree Kanchi Dham. The term kainchi refers to the two sharp hairpin bends of the hill (it is where the temple is located) that bear similarity to a set of scissors. The location which is considered extremely spiritual by the locals first originated when Neeb Karori baba, a revered saint, constructed a platform devoted to two sadhus-Shree Sombari Maharaj and Sadhu Premi baba. The very first temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman was constructed here over this platform by Neeb Karori baba.

The Pran Pratishta of the idols of Lord Hanuman was done on 15th June 1964 and that of other divine beings was done on 15th June in different years. Neeb Karori baba attracted a variety of enthusiasts in India and abroad and his murti, too, was consecrated on this auspicious day. Even today, this day marks the foundation day of the temple. A big bhandara is organized on this day every year and lakhs of enthusiasts turn up to offer their prayers and get the holy Prasad. No wonder then, the temple receives maximum gos to on this day. A flight of actions led us down to a bridge developed over a rivulet into the primary temple location where orange red spires of a number of temples captured our attention. The spires used a pleasing sharp contrast to the plant around. Within the temple premise, peace and calmness spread; nevertheless, exactly what was amazing was the pristine tidiness all around. Followers could be seen worshipping.

After hoping and investing some serene minutes in the temple, we walked back to the entrance. We were feeling a bit thirsty and a store right next to the entryway offered us just what we needed – a revitalizing lemon soda beverage. The lemons utilized for the purpose were not the small ones that we get in the cities. These were larger nimbus– big and juicy. The drink was so delicious that we ended up having two glasses each. We walked to take a look at other stores in the line prior to finally hopping back into the automobile.

Nainital

Our next stop was Nainital, one of the most popular hill stations of north India. Like numerous other hill stations of India, Nainital wased established by and functioned as a summer season retreat for the British. The pear shaped Naini Lake is the centre of traveler activity. It is thought that a person of Devi Sati’s eyes fell here while her scorched body was being brought by Lord Shiva. For this reason it is counted among the Shaktipeeths in the country. Into this congested and busy street, our chauffeur dropped us and drove the cars and truck to a location where he might park it. We stepped to the lake where numerous colourful boats- swan shaped paddle boats, traditional rowing boats, luxury yacht with striped sails– sailed across the whole stretch. Boat rowers pitched in their services as we came closer to the lake. We rapidly got one traditional boat, purchased tickets from the counter, placed on the life vest and settled ourselves in the boat, all set to indulge in the pleasures of this most popular tourist activity in Nainital.

The hills, populated, rose around the lake and provided a blissful appeal. Up above, a cable automobile with travelers in it travelled from one hill point to another. We likewise saw the sacred Naina Devi temple, the Jama Masjid and the Nainital Boat House club. In the lake itself, we watched a group of white ducks with yellowish beaks as they accompanied us for a while from a distance while another group sat in a corner, perhaps resting. Our rower turned our attention to another set of black bird/duck that flew down and started swimming in the water. Upon sensing any approaching boat, these animals plunged themselves into water and emerged a little more.

The boat flight was an enjoyable experience and we came out of our boat pleased and prepared to experiment with some little enjoyable activities. Right at the entrance area of the lake countesses suppliers, some offering eatable like chanas and bhuttas while others used balloon shooting. We took turns to inspect our shooting abilities and targeted the colourful balloons one after the other with as much precision as our skills allowed us. By now, we were incredibly starving and hence moved towards Mall Road where we might find a restaurant. A little later we were treating our palate with tasty dosas and chole bhatures, two delicacies that never really cannot fill us with contentment. We walked through the Mall Road and did a bit of shopping– vibrant candle light lights and wood items- prior to choosing that it was time to conclude our visit to Nainital and move towards our night stop prior to it got dark.

Taking a trip through the winding uneven Kilbury roadway, we considered Pangot which has a rather musical name. Simply 15 kms far from Nainital, Pangot is a delight for bird lovers. Hundreds of species of birds including minla, woodpecker, lammergeier and Khalij pheasant fascinate bird lovers from around the nation. Though we understood that Pangot was understood for bird viewing in Kilbury sanctuary, we had little concept as to exactly what sort of place we were headed to. However, the minute we got down infront of our resort, we were elated. Here we were totally in the lap of nature. Hills largely covered with trees and plants feasted our visual senses and the clouds that floated past them created a scenic view. For those who crave for a vacation relaxing around in their resort doing absolutely nothing, Pangot appeared just ideal.

Knowing that it would quickly get dark, we rapidly relocated to check out the location around, specially other homes provided by the resort and the camps that lay little bit down below. Soon darkness stepped in. The mountains silently wore a black blanket and appeared to combine with the darkness while the moon glowed like a silver coin up in the sky. Supper followed after which we surrendered ourselves to sleep. Next morning was bright and warm. It was a pleasure to have gotten up in the middle of a lot of greenery all around. The sun radiated its warm however pleasant rays from behind the hills and we, reclining on our chairs, taken in as much as possible.

For us the trip was over and we were taking in the last little bit of pleasures. Post breakfast while driving back, however, we realized that there was little more fun in shop. A chain of snow clad peaks of the Himalayas appeared soon but once again interested us. A little later we were at the Himalayan view point, filled with travelers and locals alike- all there to capture a look of the majestic mountains. From taking a trip into a serene mountainous roadway, suddenly we were delighted and gladly chit chatting. Even the vendors were delighted as a clear day indicated excellent views and thus increased earnings. They had their telescopes installed which made it possible for a more detailed look of the range of mountains. In all, they showed around 5 to 6 points consisting of peaks and temples to all one by one on paying particular charges. The area likewise made for an excellent location for photography as everyone seems to be either clicking or presenting for the electronic camera. A little further, a bird’s eye view of Naini Lake meandering its way between hills produced a terrific view.
